WHAT IS SCREEDING, TACKING & DRY LINING?

Screeding is the act of applying a thin layer of material to a surface to even it out. This task is usually performed with a flat piece of wood or aluminium. Different types of materials can be used for screeding including cement, stucco and plaster. Our tradesmen often screed walls and ceilings with materials including stucco, lime plaster, and gypsum plaster.

WHAT IS SCREEDING TACKING & DRY LINING

Dry lining is the securing of plasterboard to different materials including metal, timber, and brickwork. It is a much faster method for finishing a wall compared to traditional rendered plastering methods. The plasterboard is measured and cut to precisely fit the space it is being applied to before being secured to joists, stud walls, or a flat surface.

Dry lining has become very popular in the past couple of decades because it is faster and cheaper than rendered plaster. It  is easy to work with and looks fantastic once finished. Our tradesmen are familiar with all types of plasterboard commonly used for dry lining including Sound-board, Fire-board, Foil-backed- board, and Aqua-board.

Tacking is a term for dry lining when you are applying the plaster board to metal or timber. If the plasterboard is being applied to masonry, it is sometimes called Dot and Dab — because the plasterboard is applied with dabs of plaster adhesive before the joints of the plasterboard are sealed.
