The Different Types of Coving to Choose From

A couple of years back clients were getting in touch to ask: “Is coving old-fashioned?”. Now coving is a hugely popular option for enhancing and brightening interior living spaces. No matter whether you have a Victorian villa or a new build, coving provides a pleasing ‘finish’ for interiors, and provides great opportunities for elegant colour contrasts.

The current question we get asked is: “What types of coving should I choose for my home?” so in this blog the Logic Plastering coving team provides a guide to selecting the type and material you need.

Plastering, Dry Lining and Coving in Ampthill

Plastering, Dry Lining and Coving in Ampthill

A recent report carried out for The Telegraph placed Ampthill first in its ranking of small and medium-sized UK towns to live in. It’s not hard to see why! This lovely market town with its landmark water pump at the centre is always busy and feels prosperous. It’s had part to play in history too. St Katherine’s Cross in Ampthill Park marks the site of the castle where Henry VIII housed his first wife whilst trying to secure his divorce from her.

Ampthill has been an important trading centre for centuries, and this is evident in the historic mix of buildings that make up the town. Much of the town centre was remodelled in the 1780s, but there are also Victorian villas, early 20th century terraces and new builds in the mix. Over the years the Logic Plastering team has had the opportunity to work on some fascinating buildings, from a range of periods, across the town.

Plastering and External Rendering Services in Riseley

Plastering and External Rendering Services in Riseley

There’s been a settlement on the site of Riseley since the 11th century and in its time it has been a centre for making bricks, tiles and lace. Now it’s one of the many attractive villages, just to the north of Bedford, that the Logic Plastering team get to visit as part of their work.

With a history going back 1,000 years it’s no wonder Riseley boasts a variety of housing stock, ranging from thatched cottages to 18th century gabled houses, Victorian villas and attractive contemporary builds. It’s a real privilege to be able to apply our plastering and external rendering services in Riseley to houses that have survived for 100s of years.

Plastering and Coving Services in Biddenham

Biddenham is one of Bedfordshire’s best kept secrets. Just two miles from Bedford town centre, this tiny village nestles on the banks of the River Ouse. It’s one of the smallest of the Bedfordshire villages and has managed to protect its identity, despite the ongoing encroachment of new builds nearby.

The history of Biddenham goes back to Roman times, and it ‘feels’ like a proper village, with a village pond (originally created for the catching of carp) and a Green which forms the centre of village life. It’s a treat to for the Logic Plastering team to step out of 21st century Bedford and into something much older. And we relish the opportunity of working on cottages, some of which date back to the 1700s.

Plastering, Dry Lining and Coving in Woburn

When working in Bromham, the Logic Plastering team can never resist a quick cup of tea and a cake in the Bromham Mill cafe. It’s a tranquil spot in a beautiful village that goes back to medieval times. Unbelievably, it’s just 2 or 3 miles away from Bedford town centre though it feels like another world.

As with all the Bedfordshire villages there’s a rich mix of housing stock. Over the years we’ve had the opportunity to work on thatched cottages, new builds and everything in-between. Whether we’re called in to repair external rendering, put up dry lining partitions or plaster an interior, Bromham’s a great place to work and a lovely community of people.

Plastering, Dry Lining and Coving in Woburn

The Sunday Times has named Woburn as one of the ‘best places to live in Britain’ and the Logic Plastering team would have to concur! We love working in this beautiful Georgian village. It’s less than 30 minutes from Bedford, but feels like a different country. For tourists, it’s the Safari Park, Centre Parcs and Woburn Abbey that make it special. For locals, though, it’s probably the great restaurants, amazing country walks, and the weekly Woburn market that make it a such a great place to live in.

Woburn has an eventful history. It was burned to the ground 3 times, before being rebuilt in the style visitors now love. Many of the properties clustering around the historic High Street date back to the mid 1750s, which make them fascinating for plasterers like ourselves. Over the past decade we’ve worked on Woburn new builds, red brick houses, and original Georgian buildings.

Plastering and Rendering Services in Sharnbrook

The Logic Plastering team always look forward to providing plastering and rendering services in Sharnbrook. On the map it’s just a smallish Bedfordshire village, 9 miles west of Bedford. So what makes Sharnbrook special? We can name 3 reasons. First there’s the bakery on the High Street offering superb bacon baps. Second, there’s the weirdly named ‘Swan With Two Nicks’ pub – also on the High St. Third, there’s the Christmas decorations; they are something special to see!

The village has been around since Norman times so, as you’d expect, there’s a variety of houses to be tended to. We’ve worked on thatched cottages, new-builds and handsome red brick properties over the years. Whether it’s repairing exterior rendering, plastering an interior, or applying dry lining, Sharnbrook’s a great environment to work in, in a beautiful corner of the county.

How Professional Render Repair Protects Your Home

We depend on the walls of our homes to provide a protective buffer between ‘inside’ and ‘outside’. This works metaphorically, in that your home becomes the place you can retreat to in bad times, but they also have a practical job to do. Walls keep the weather, draughts and noise out of our homes. Rendering helps with the process, by adding an external layer to protect your home’s brickwork.
